From Leg Pain to Home Plate: Abram’s Physical Therapy Story

Playing baseball is a traditional pastime that children love, and Abram is no different. But his lifelong love of the game faced a challenge: leg pain. When he started walking as a toddler, his mom, Jessica, noticed he was in a lot of pain, especially at night.

Abram would wake up crying inconsolably, and the pain interfered with his daily life. Doctors told Jessica it was growing pains, but her motherly instincts told her otherwise. She took her son to see a chiropractor, who suggested physical therapy.

“My number one hope was for him to start running better,” Jessica recalled. “He’s always loved baseball, but after busy days or games, the pain would come back.”

Abram worked with physical therapist Diana, who created goals focused on strengthening his core, hips, and legs, as well as improving his balance and coordination. Nine-year-old Abram conquered his goals; he is determined, motivated, and competitive. He especially loved racing through obstacle courses and beating his times. It only took one therapy package (16 visits) for Abram to meet all of his goals. He no longer has night pain, his balance improved, and he is stronger and more coordinated.

Jessica says, “I no longer have to worry about having ibuprofen on me at all times. It’s a huge change, because you just never knew when his legs were going to get hurt or tired. I always had to be prepared.”

Abram’s parents stayed committed to his progress, made therapy a priority, and encouraged him every step of the way. “His parents worked really hard to support him both in the clinic and at home,” Diana said. “That kind of dedication makes a huge difference.”

Jessica watched her son grow in his strength and balance and in confidence. Abram put his therapy to work during a recent baseball game. Abram’s coach sent him to steal home, something he didn’t typically do due to his speed. “He was so proud that his coach believed in him. That moment built his confidence in a big way,” Jessica said.

Graduating from therapy at 321go Kids not only eliminated Abram’s pain, but it also meant unlocking the joy of being a kid again. “It’s scary to think about your child going through something like this, but it’s 1000% worth it to see the progress and confidence he has now. Getting help can make all the difference,” said Jessica.
