Jaydah’s Journey of Strength, Steps, and Connection

When Jaydah first arrived at Morgan’s home as a foster placement at just two and a half years old, the world felt unfamiliar. She couldn’t walk. She couldn’t talk. She couldn’t sit up on her own. While typical toddlers are running, climbing, talking, and asserting their independence, Jaydah was still learning to stabilize her body.

There were concerns beyond mobility. “She wouldn’t let people hold her or touch her,” Morgan shared. “So there was a lot of sensory stuff that we had to overcome.” But Morgan saw Jaydah’s determination: “If she wants to do it, she’s going to do it. And she wanted to walk so bad.”

That’s when 321go Kids became part of Jaydah’s therapy. She began therapy with 321go Kids in May 2023, focusing on core stability, sensory regulation, and building trust in movement. Physical therapy addressed the tightness in her legs and limited core control, making balance difficult. Interventions such as walkers and serial casting helped support her mobility goals. Speech therapy began with early sounds and the fundamentals of language.

Morgan remembers how fast Jaydah started talking. “We were in speech for maybe a couple of months, and she was gaining words, multiple words a day,” Morgan recalled. “And then she went from saying just the beginning of the word to sentences. She picks up on everything fast.”

Physical milestones followed. After using a walker for a short time, Jaydah surprised everyone by taking steps in July 2023. Soon those steps turned into walking, and walking into running.

As her body gained strength, something else began to shift – her desire for connection. “When she first started, she couldn’t be handled at all. So now she’s affectionate and wants to be touching me constantly. She wants to be held, wants hugs, wants kisses,” said Morgan.

Therapy at 321go Kids became a central part of the family’s life. “We kind of base everything around therapy. Yes. It’s like our second home at times. And then camp. Camp helped a lot.”

At Victory Lane Camp, Jaydah experienced a new freedom: swimming. With support from her therapist from 321go Kids, Cory, and her mom, Jaydah entered the water. At first hesitant, she eventually relaxed, floating and playing while other children laughed and chased her around.

Cory remembers standing with her as she approached the water, then later guiding her through it as she began to enjoy the experience. Seeing Jaydah in the pool, a place she once couldn’t access at all, and watching her carry herself with growing independence was a great moment. It was a culmination of the transformation made possible by Morgan’s vision for Jaydah.

“Jaydah’s mom is a fierce advocate…helping encourage Jaydah on the days that she’s not feeling up to therapy.”

Today, Jaydah carries her own backpack with feeding equipment, walks independently, and continues to build strength, coordination, and confidence every day. For Cory, one of the most meaningful outcomes is simple: “Really just all the independence that she’s gained, not having to be stuck in a wheelchair and being able to do things on her own.”
