Lily Batton
Occupational Therapist Each day, I am inspired by the children I work with and their families, who continually demonstrate resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to growth. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a career in therapy? Growing up, I experienced several sports injuries that first introduced me to the world of physical therapy. However, it was at age 12, while watching my cousin—who was born prematurely—receive occupational therapy services at home, that I truly found my passion. From that moment on, I knew this was the field I wanted to pursue. That early exposure sparked a lasting interest in helping others build skills, gain independence, and thrive in their everyday lives. Who inspires you in your profession? Each day, I am inspired by the children I work with and their families, who continually demonstrate resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to growth. Their ability to overcome challenges and celebrate even the smallest victories is something I deeply admire. I’m equally grateful to be part of a team that encourages me to be the best version of myself, supports my professional growth, and shares in celebrating every child’s progress. Together, we strive to create a positive, supportive environment where each child feels valued, capable, and empowered to succeed. What is your favorite way to engage with kids? I strive to meet each child exactly where they are and take the time to understand their unique interests and play styles. Building these connections allows me to create sessions that are both meaningful and engaging. I aim to make every session fun, inviting, and tailored to the child—after all, a child’s primary occupation is play! Tell us about a challenge that you watched a child overcome? One of the most meaningful parts of my work is witnessing children overcome things that once felt hard or even scary. I am a strong believer in reminding each child that they are capable of doing hard things, and I love seeing that mindset grow over time. I have been fortunate to watch children conquer fears, participate more fully in their environments, and take on new challenges with increasing confidence. Each step forward, no matter how small, is a powerful reminder of their resilience and growth! What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends! I love exploring new coffee shops, thrifting for unique finds, and spoiling our two cats. My husband and I also enjoy tackling home projects and renovations together, always finding new ways to make our space feel like home
