I always say I took this job to change lives but these kids have changed mine.

When did you first know you wanted to pursue a career in therapy? I was only in 8th grade when I decided I wanted to be a PTA, but I was in my early twenties when I realized my passion was pediatrics. Hearing stories from friends and loved ones such as my Mammy who had polio as a young girl really inspired me to get into this career.

Who inspires you in your profession? I am inspired by kiddos every day, kids who beat the odds, kids who push forward when life is tough, and kids who keep a smile on their face every day no matter what. I always say I took this job to change lives but these kids have changed mine.

What is your favorite way to engage with kids? My favorite way to engage with kids is through play! Getting to help them grow and gain independence while having fun is a great way to spend the day!

Tell us about a challenge that you watched a child overcome? The greatest gift in this life is watching these children overcome many many obstacles. One of my favorites has been watching a child with developmental delay take his first steps. The joy it brings us as therapist, the joy it brings the parents, and the joy of the child as they gain their independence is unmatched and priceless.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children. I love getting to spend time with my parents, siblings, and friends. I love any kind of adventure from sky diving to kayaking to a simple walk around the block and some days I like to slow down and just enjoy a book.
